Jamillia Afeluyi

Hi! My name is Jamillia, and I am a dedicated and compassionate social worker student with a passion for helping individuals achieve positive mental health outcomes by navigating the challenges of anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I am pursuing a master's in social work at the University of Memphis; I bring a solid foundation in cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. My proficiency in cognitive behavioral therapy helps the client identify and modify negative thought patterns to promote emotional well-being. Motivational interviewing has taught me practical communication skills to inspire and guide clients toward positive behavioral changes. As an intern, I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills in a real-world setting, explicitly focusing on individuals grappling with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I look forward to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those seeking support.

To be an advocate for Black and Brown people seeking therapy. It is my goal to provide quality mental health services in an effort to reduce the stigma that those seeking treatment often face.

Help promote healthier communities by advocating for those who are underserved.
